This is because, in Brazil, according to Articles 45 and 46 of the Constitution, the members of the House of Representatives and the Senate are elected, respectively, via the proportional system and the majoritarian principle.
Differently, in the other legislative houses, which are the Legislative Assemblies and the Municipal Chambers, the members are elected only by the proportional system.

We believe that one should consider the political party, especially, when voting for positions where candidates are elected via the proportional system, since the vote is computed for both the candidate and the party or coalition to which he or she belongs.
Thus, it is important to be vigilant, since the new rule makes it possible for the vote to be worthless, since it can help elect more candidates of the party or coalition not preferred by the voter.
